Description

Speculative poetry has seen, in recent years, a rise in engagement and publication. In this intro to speculative poetry workshop, participants will learn the basics of defining, writing, and identifying speculative poetry; how to use literary devices to enhance the speculative elements in their poems; and how to use poetic types to bridge speculative content and form. 

Time will also be allotted for writing exercises and sharing resources.


About the Instructor:

 

Terese Mason Pierre (she/her) is writer and editor whose work has appeared in Fantasy, Strange Horizons, and FIYAH, among others. Her work has been nominated for the Ignyte Award, the Rhysling Award, and Best of the Net. She is an editor at Augur Magazine, a Canadian speculative literature journal. Terese has also co-hosted poetry reading series, organized literary events, and facilitated creative writing workshops. She is the author of chapbooks, Surface Area (Anstruther Press, 2019) and Manifest (Gap Riot Press, 2020). Terese lives and works in Toronto, Canada.
