What are the cliches and overused tropes of science fiction, and how can we use science as writers to build more realistic worlds?
In this one-hour lecture, mathematician and STEM communicator Ashley Christine will discuss some of the most common science fiction fails, unpack why these are problematic, and encourage alternatives that will lead to more convincing sci-fi elements in stories.

Ashley Christine is a mathematician and STEM communicator teaching people of all ages to better understand science, and appreciate the recent breakthroughs and discoveries in the STEM world.
