Description

Ever read a story that weaves two seemingly unrelated threads together so seamlessly it feels like magic? Perhaps it’s a folktale intertwined with memoir, or a calculated scientific element woven with a perspective full of deeply human emotion. Braided prose creates a rich, layered narrative that captivates readers—that may seem complicated. But just like other craft techniques, it’s a trick that anyone can learn!

In this two-hour workshop, we’ll:

-Explore stunning examples of braided prose in both fiction and nonfiction

-Experiment with braiding fact and memoir or fact and fiction

-Begin crafting your braided pieces with exercises designed to spark creativity and guide your process long after the class has concluded.

Participation Requirements: This is a generative space; attendees will be asked to participate via chat, voice, and/or video.

This class meets online for one two-hour session on February 1, 2025, 2-4 pm
