This summer, I'm writing for a good cause—and I would like your support.

I'm writing for the Clarion West Write-a-thon, the fundraiser that helps support world-class instruction to empower emerging and underrepresented writers. Clarion West is a nonprofit organization that focuses on providing some of the best speculative fiction workshops in the galaxy. It's run by volunteers and a small but hardworking paid staff, and it depends on the support of the community.

The Write-a-thon is like a walk-a-thon with words: six weeks of writing to help raise money for this workshop. I’ve set my goal to be to write the first draft of a short story every week of the event. I hope you'll consider supporting me this summer! It's not just about giving money to sustain an amazing workshop, but also about helping sustain my writing spirit.

I don't have a target dollar amount I hope to raise, since I suck at estimating how much support I'll have, and this is my first time participating. If you do decide to donate in my honor, any amount is appreciated. A donation in any amount helps, as does helping spread the word to friends, family, and coworkers.

The Write-a-thon supports Clarion West programs year-round. All donations support Clarion West classes, workshops, panels, and other programs for emerging writers, including our Six-Week Workshop. We also hold events, offer scholarships, raise awareness, and promote diverse speculative fiction in Seattle and all over the world.
